RoIP Client Configuration

Introduction

You will need to have been granted RoIP access by the Tucson GMRS association to use the repeater through the internet; you can request this here: http://tucsongmrs.org/index.php/2019/10/05/request-roip-access/

General Settings: The system can be accessed through any IAX client. The host name of the system is roip.tucsongmrs.org, the node number is 1000, and the username and password will be those given to you in the confirmation email (this will not match your username and password on this website). IaxRPT and Zoiper are the recommended clients, detailed instructions for various platforms are given in the following sections.

Windows & Linux (WINE)

IAXRpt is a purpose built application for controlling AllStar based radio systems over the internet and the recommended choice for those using the Windows operating system. This program is also supposed to work well under WINE, for those of you using Linux. You can download IAXRpt from the following URL: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iwJ9…m7if

MacOS & Linux (Native)

Admittedly, these instructions are written on the windows platform, however the program is the same – if you’d like to generate a MacOS specific set of instructions, please let us know!

Download and install ‘ZoiPer,’ a VoIP client with support for the IAX protocol: https://www.zoiper.com/en/voip-softphone/download/current

Android

So far the best contender for Android devices seems to be DVSwitch, available on the Google Play Store. Zoiper is also available for these devices, and can be configured as above in the iOS tutorial.
